Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a residential block of flats on Glendower Crescent in Orpington.

A three-roomed flat on the second floor of the three-storey building was partially destroyed by fire. Seven people left the property before the arrival of the Brigade. One person was assessed on scene for smoke inhalation.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers received the first call to this incident at 0921 and mobilised crews from Orpington, Sidcup and Bromley fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1011.

The fire is believed to have been caused by items left on a hob, which was accidentally turned on.
