Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a fire at a block of flats on Rosenthal Road in Catford.
A flat on the ninth-floor floor was destroyed by fire. Part of a flat on the 10th floor was damaged by fire. There have been no reports of any injuries.
Rushey Green was closed between Rosenthal Road and Honley Road whilst the incident was ongoing and people were advised to avoid the area.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took almost 50 calls to the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 1251 and the fire was under control by 1414. Fire crews from Forest Hill, Greenwich, Deptford, Lee Green and surrounding fire stations attended the scene. A 32-metre turntable ladder was also used at the scene as a water tower to help fight the fire from height.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
