Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to a fire on Teale Street, Hackney.
The incident occurred in a block of flats consisting of four floors and a mansard roof. Part of a three roomed flat on the fourth floor was damaged by flames.
The Brigade received the first of three calls reporting the fire at 1246, and crews had the fire under control by 1344. Crews from Bethnal Green, Shadwell, Whitechapel and Islington fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
