Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire on Green Street in Upton Park.
A void space in a ground floor takeaway restaurant, with flats above, was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1711 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Stratford, Leytonstone, Plaistow and Poplar fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 1814.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
