Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a block of flats on Claremont Street in East Ham.
A small part of a five roomed flat on the second floor and guttering was damaged by the fire. An external balcony was destroyed by the fire. Five people left the building before the Brigade arrived. One man was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service.
Control Officers took the first of four calls at 1858 and mobilised crews from Plaistow, Barking and Poplar fire stations to the scene. The incident was over for firefighters at 1956.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
