Firefighters responded to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Wickham Road and Shirley Roundabout in Croydon.
Three cars were involved in the collision, and crews worked alongside the Metropolitan Police Service and the London Ambulance Service to make the scene safe. Two of the Brigade’s Fire Rescue Units, which carry specialist rescue equipment, were deployed to the scene as part of our response.
Firefighters carried out rescue operations to release three people who were trapped in vehicles as a result of the collision, before they were taken to hospital for treatment. A further three people were assessed on scene by paramedics before being removed to hospital.
The Brigade was first called about the incident at 2049, and operations for firefighters concluded at 2255. Firefighters from Beckenham, Bromley, Lewisham and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
