Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a shed fire on Westhorne Avenue in Eltham.

Firefighters tackled a fire at a single storey shed behind a detached house, the shed was completely destroyed by the fire.

A cylinder containing gas was cooled to an ambient temperature and removed as a precaution as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Control Officers took the first of ten calls at 1432 and fire crews from Lee Green, Eltham, Lewisham and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene. The fire was under control by 1533.
