Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire at a semi-detached house on Harp Road in Hanwell.

Most of the ground floor was damaged by the fire. One man left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.

The fire is believed to have been accidental and was caused by a log falling from an open fireplace.

One of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene to help fight the fire from above.

Control Officers took the call at 1908 and mobilised crews from Ealing, Southall, Acton and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 2114.
