Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a flat on Park Lane in Romford.
Part of a first floor flat and a small part of the external fascia was damaged by the fire. A motorbike was destroyed by the fire. Three people were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. Two further people were led to safety by firefighters.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and was caused by a motorbike battery fault.
Control Officers took the first of seven calls at 0042 and mobilised crews from Dagenham and Ilford fire stations to the scene. The incident was over for firefighters at 0149.
