Four fire engines and 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a hotel on Central Street in Clerkenwell.

A small part of a hotel block on the second floor of a seven storey building was destroyed by fire.

Around 570 residents were evacuated by hotel staff before the Brigade arrived. Thankfully no injuries reported.

The Brigade's 999 Control staff received the first call to the fire at 0049 and assigned crews from Shoreditch, Islington, Euston and Dowgate fire stations. The incident was over by 0223.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade's fire investigators and the Met police.
