Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters have been tackling a fire on Clayton Road near Chessington.
A mobile home and outbuilding was alight. Crews cooled two cylinders to an ambient temperature as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat. There have been no reports of any injuries at this time.
Station Commander Paul Jarrett, who was at the scene, said: "Due to the rural setting of this fire, extra appliances were called upon to transport water from a remote hydrant and ensure that the fire could be extinguished as quickly and safely as possible."
The Brigade's Control Officers received three calls reporting the fire, with the first received at 1438. London firefighters from Surbiton, New Malden and Kingston fire stations were mobilised by Control Officers to the scene, alongside crews from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. The fire was brought under control by 1623.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
