Assistant Commissioner Darren McLatchey said: “Firefighters were mobilised to support colleagues from the Metropolitan Police Service and London Ambulance Service as they responded to reports of a stabbing on Marlowe Way in Beddington.

“Seven fire engines, one Fire Rescue Unit and a Command Unit were deployed to the scene as part of the Brigade’s predetermined response. London’s firefighters are trained to support paramedics in carrying out immediate emergency care, as well as providing our rescue capability when responding to this type of incident.

"Upon arrival, crews supported the police by carrying out a systematic search of the incident site as they worked to make the scene safe. Crews from Mitcham, Norbury, Wallington and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

“The thoughts of everyone across the Brigade are with those who have been affected by this incident.”
