Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters have been called to a flat fire on Pennant Terrace in Walthamstow.
A three roomed flat on the ground floor of a two storey block of flats was completely destroyed by fire. Part of a neighbouring flat was also damaged by fire.
One person evacuated the flat above before the Brigade arrived. Crews wearing breathing apparatus worked hard to control the fire and extinguished the fire in both flats.
The Brigade's 999 Control officers were called at 0326 and deployed crews from Walthamstow. Tottenham, Leyton and Chingford fire stations.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade's fire investigators and the Met police.
