Flat fire - Whitechapel

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Arbour Square in Whitechapel.

A large part of a flat on the second floor of a six storey block of flats was destroyed by fire. Around 50 residents evacuated the building before the Brigade arrived.

The Brigade's 999 Control officers received 39 calls alerting them to the fire. They received their first call at 1734 and deployed crews from Millwall, Shoreditch, Islington and Homerton fire stations. The incident was over by 1835. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade's fire investigators and the Met police.
