The London Fire Brigade has had official confirmation that the Fire Brigades Union strike planned for Saturday, 19 October has been called off.
The strike action had been planned to take place across England and Wales between 6.30pm and 11.30pm and related to an on-going dispute between the FBU and government over the government’s reforms to the Firefighters’ Pension Scheme.
In the run up to Saturday’s planned strike action, the Brigade had been urging Londoners to take extra care to prevent fires in the home by taking simple steps like ensuring cookers are switched off and cigarettes are properly extinguished.
Although the industrial action will no longer be taking place it is still important to make sure you and your family are safe from fire. You can find more London Fire Brigade fire safety tips here.
