Sunday 31 May is London History Day, which this year has a theme of resilience. We’ll be marking the occasion with the release of a fascinating new video.
Hosted by our Museum curators, the video looks at the resilience displayed by the fire service during the Second World War, and draws parallels with the work the Brigade is carrying out today in the effort against the Coronavirus pandemic.
London Fire Brigade Curator Jane Stern said:
“We are thrilled that we can still virtually participate in this year’s London History Day and be part of an event celebrating the strength and courage of London.”
Assistant Curator Elena Lewendon added:
“Our video draws upon the Brigade’s amazing photography archive and really shows how people come together in times of adversity.”
You can watch the video from 11am on Sunday onwards, right here on this webpage, and also on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Take a look at our Learning at home page to discover similar videos from our curators, but designed specifically for children. You’ll also find fire safety at home sessions, and activity books to keep them educated and occupied.
