Brigade responds to the Government’s Social Housing White Paper.
Assistant Commissioner for Fire Safety Paul Jennings said:
“We support the need for meaningful change in the built environment, the legislation that governs it and to see fire safety improvements. I welcome the proposals detailed in the Government’s Social Housing White Paper which we are studying in detail and expect to lead to greater protection to Londoners living in social housing.
“This announcement puts important steps in place to strengthen the regulatory regime and help to ensure that social landlords meet their responsibilities to keep residents safe in their homes. However, thousands of residents won’t feel safe in their homes until buildings have had dangerous cladding removed, and other fire safety issues have been remedied. We will be engaging with the consultations announced today and will continue to work with all parties, including central and London Government to remedy all issues of concern in the built environment.”
