London Fire Commissioner Andy Roe said: “On behalf of London Fire Brigade, I want to express our sadness at the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
"Our thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family at this difficult time.
“The Duke of Edinburgh has always been a firm supporter of the emergency services and in particular the fire and rescue service.
"We were delighted when Prince Philip accompanied Her Majesty The Queen when she opened our Headquarters in February 2008."
