The Independent Culture Review has been published, and is now available to read.

London Fire Commissioner Andy Roe said

“Today marks the first anniversary of the death of Jaden Matthew Francois-Esprit, who tragically took his own life when he should have been enjoying his career as a firefighter on our apprenticeship scheme. I can only imagine how difficult this time will be for Jaden’s family, friends and colleagues and my thoughts continue to be with them.

“Earlier this year, following Jaden’s death, and also in response to other feedback from employees about their experience at London Fire Brigade, I announced the establishment of an independent review into the culture of the Brigade.

“The review will give our staff and the communities we serve the opportunity to express their views about our culture and to be heard. I will be accountable for the Brigade delivering any actions that arise from the review, which I hope will mean everyone within London Fire Brigade feeling better supported, from trainee level and throughout their career, and more able to bring their whole selves to work.

“Outside of the review, positive changes have taken place across the Brigade in the past year, but there is much more work which needs to be done.

“Today we will be taking the opportunity to remind our colleagues of the help and support that is available to them to support their mental health.”
