Some of our fittest firefighters recently went to the British Firefighter Challenge in Manchester to represent London Fire Brigade.
They competed in their full fire gear and challenges included a stair ascent, a hose drag and even a casualty rescue (in the form of a dummy)!
All of our team finished with great results. That includes Julie Lashmar from Park Royal Red Watch who completed the course with a sub 5-minute time and came 15th out of 35 women who took part.
Lee Phillips from Tooting Blue Watch also took part and won gold in his age category. He, Joe Salmon (Northolt White Watch) and Oliver Mayo (Walthamstow Red Watch) won bronze for LFB in the UK Fire Service competition with the three fastest respective times from LFB.
And Tom Blackman from Barking Blue Watch won his heat against a firefighter from Manchester. Tom said “I did most of my training on station before or after shift which was not only physically but mentally tough. There was a great turn out of people on the day. In all a great weekend being amongst good people, I thoroughly enjoyed my time competing.”
Well done all, and roll on next year’s competition in Liverpool!
