Shut in lift release incidents

The Brigade attends a range of non-fire incidents (which we call 'special services'). These 'special services' include releasing people trapped in lift cars, which we call 'shut in lift releases' (or sometimes called 'lift entrapments'. Lift releases (or entrapments) do not include incidents where a person(s) is trapped in lift machinery. These lift releases will be to buildings which are apartment blocks as well as commercial and public buildings. Data is published monthly for three years.

This is a new draft Assessment of Risk in London. It has been produced to meet the requirements of the Fire and Rescue National Framework and will inform the development of the Commissioner’s next Community Risk Management Plan to be agreed in 2022. The draft was subject to public consultation in the summer 2021 and in the light of responses received, will be finalised in 2022.

Overtime and Compensatory Leave FRS Policy

This policy provides information on the entitlement to overtime for FRS employees, which is claimed as a payment or as time off in lieu of hours worked (CL). It provides information on the enhanced rates payable and details how claims for overtime and CL are requested, authorised and recorded. This policy also details arrangements relating to employees who put themselves forward to support activities for the Brigade outside of their contractual working hours.

Casual Overtime Policy

This policy provides information on the entitlement to casual overtime, which is claimed as a payment or as LILO (Leave in Lieu of Overtime, formerly Extra duty leave, EDL) and enhanced rates for working on public holidays for operational employees. It explains how LILO is to be applied for, granted, and recorded. It also outlines the procedure to be followed when arranging for payment of casual overtime.
