London Fire Brigade Values - (FIRST)

The existing London Fire Brigade values of Fairness, Integrity, Respect, Service and Trust (FIRST) have not in recent years been as widely promoted as they once were and are arguable less visible to LFB staff. This report provides the board with further background and seeks agreement that the values remain appropriate for current use, including planned leadership work during 2019/20

Desktop Improvement Project

This report seeks approval for the expenditure for external resources to deliver the Desktop Improvement Project. The key objectives of the project are to upgrade the Windows 2016 operating system, including the web browser. and allow for the upgrade of Microsoft Office software on the Citrix / 'terminal services' ('thin client') desktop.

2019/20 Budget

LFC-0133 presents the London Fire Commissioner's (LFC) final draft revenue and capital budget for 2019/20 for approval. The report also provides an update on the actuarial revaluation of the firefighter's pension scheme and then presents revised potential financial implications for the LFC.

Internal Audit – Progress Report Quarter 1, 2018/19

Firefighter Apprenticeships

All new firefighters will complete an 18-month apprenticeship, expected from October 2018. The London Fire Commissioner delegates the authority to the Director of Corporate Services to approve the changes to the training contract that will enable delivery of firefighter apprenticeships, within financial constraints.

Rapid Intervention Sets

The Rapid Intervention Sets (RIS) on frontline appliances are coming to the end of their serviceable life and care and are due for renewal. This report to the Commissioner outlines the process that has been undertaken to identify the most apppropriate replacement equitpment and seeks permission to place orders and drawn down on the funding previously agreed by the LFEPA Resources Committee

Payment of the ULEZ Charge for Personnel Based in Charging

Commissioner’s Board considered a report on this issue at its meeting on 30 January 2019 (LFC-0125) and agreed a set of recommendations for trade union consultation. Fire and Resilience Board considered a similar report at its meeting on 12 February 2019 (FRB-0030), although by that time it was known that the initial proposals for consultation would need to be amended to bring them in line with the Mayor's Enviromental policy framework.
