Scientific Services - Contract Award

This report seeks approval to award the contrat for Scientific Services to Bureau Veritas UK Ltd. The proposed contract award will ensure key scientific services are provided to LFB, to support fire fighting at incidents. The services include analysing hazardous substances, supporting fire investigations, attendance at court hearings, assistance with enquires amd testing new equipment.

Appointment of the Statutory Deputy London Fire Commissioner

The role of the Statutory Deputy London Fire Commissioner is outlined in Schedule 27A of the Greater London Authority Act 1999, as amended by the Policing and Crime Act 2017. The London Fire Commissioner Governance Direction 2018 Requires the Londopn Fire Commissioner to receive consent from the Mayor of London for the appointment.

Modern Slavery Statement

Whilst the London Fire Commissioner (LFC) is not legally required to publish a Modern Slavery Statement, it is recognised as best practice to do so and furthers the London Fire Brigade's (LFB) work to implement the Greater London Authority (GLA) group responsible Procurement Policy.

LFB in a digital world - Annual Update report

The Brigade's current three-year information and technology strategy - LFC in a digital world, 2019-2021, was approved by the Commissioner in December 2018 (LFC0094-D). As part of our commitment to ensure that the strategy remains current and focused, the intention was to provide periodic updates to the Brigade's corporate boards in respect of progress in delivering the strategy, and refresh the strategy on an annual basis. The review of the strategy is an action in the agreed Delivery Plan.

This report provides an overview and analysis of accidental dwelling fires in 2017/18, including the fatalities and injuries that occured. it brings together the outcomes of Fatal Fire Reviews and Accidental Dwelling Fire (ADF) Reviews with statistical data. It highlights focus areas for the community safety work and initiatives whilst also acknowledging work underway, and is intended to support continued work at all levels to reduce fire risk to londoners.
