Lease Cars Report Benefits in Kind

The London Fire Commissioner (LFC) currently provides over 180 lease cars to its staff with a current annual LFC subsidy of up to £5,265per car for 2022/23 / £6,213 for 2023/24. These lease cars are primarily provided to operational staff. Some staff in Control as well as FRS also have access to lease cars due to specific circumstances of their role.

Skills Payments (Interim)

Appointment to post of Deputy Commissioner for Prevention, Protection and Operational Policy

The current Deputy Commissioner for Prevention, Protection and Operational Policy, Dom Ellis, will retire in March 2024. Following an appointment process, it is recommended that the London Fire Commissioner appoints Assistant Commissioner Charlie Pugsley to this post.

This report provides recommendations to deliver the vetting requirements for all Brigade staff, detailing the legal position for Brigade staff to have a form of background checks in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exemptions) Order 1975.

Occupational Health Services Provision

The London Fire Commissioner’s current contract for occupational health services is due to cease on 4 March 2024, following a one-year agreed extension as set out in LFC-0706y and approved in Deputy Mayor for Fire and Resilience Decision DMFD170. That same DMFD170 decision also approved going out to tender for a new contract with a term of seven years from March 2024. Due to unforeseen issues arising during the new procurement exercise, that tender exercise was required to be abandoned.
